State Rep. Andrés Romero Endorses Victor Reyes
“Now more than ever we need young leaders like Victor to unapologetically fight for those in our communities”
ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico -- On Wednesday, Democratic candidate for New Mexico’s 1st Congressional District, Victor Reyes, was endorsed by the Chair of New Mexico’s House Education Committee, Representative Andrés Romero. Over the weekend, Rep. Romero joined Reyes for a ‘Visits with Victor’ livestream to discuss education equity and the introduction of Reyes’ education plan. In his endorsement, Romero highlighted Reyes' track record of advocating for education and the need for more young leaders who will fight for bold solutions in Washington.
“Victor has been a tireless advocate for education and our teachers,” said State Representative Andrés Romero. “Now more than ever we need young leaders like Victor to unapologetically fight for those in our communities who cannot keep waiting for politics as usual to address their urgent needs.”
Rep. Romero joins a large group of standout supporters for Reyes from Congressman Ritchie Torres, Equality PAC, the LGBTQ Victory Fund, and over a dozen local leaders across New Mexico, including State Sen. Leo Jaramillo, State Rep. Lee Alcon, and Mayor of Mountainair Peter Nieto. As a champion for progressive policy and legislation in the state of New Mexico, Reyes has been at the forefront of the state’s efforts to provide COVID-19 relief, support educators, curb gun violence, build New Mexico’s economy, and protect our air, land, and water. When the pandemic hit, Governor Lujan Grisham tapped Reyes to help lead efforts aiding local governments with community response to ensure tribes and pueblos had access to the food, shelter, and resources they needed as an architect behind two special legislative sessions.
