State Rep. Roger Montoya Endorses Victor Reyes
“I have come to know a handful of inspiring and generational leaders -- Victor Reyes is both”
ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico -- On Thursday, Democratic candidate for New Mexico’s 1st Congressional District, Victor Reyes, was endorsed by the first openly gay member of the New Mexico House and CNN Hero, State Representative Roger Montoya. In his endorsement, Rep. Montoya highlighted Reyes' visionary leadership and track record of advocating for those in need during his time working for Governor Lujan Grisham’s administration.
“I have come to know a handful of inspiring and generational leaders -- Victor Reyes is both,” said Representative Roger Montoya. “Victor’s strong advocacy and diligence while working in the Governor’s office helped address some of our state’s most pressing issues. Victor will work for those without a voice -- specifically our children and those in need of an advocate. I wholeheartedly endorse Victor Reyes because our state, our communities, and our people need a visionary leader like him.”
Rep. Montoya joins a large group of standout supporters for Reyes from Congressman Ritchie Torres, Equality PAC, the LGBTQ Victory Fund, and over a dozen local leaders across New Mexico, including Rep. Andrés Romero, Rep. Lee Alcon, Sen. Leo Jaramillo, and Mayor of Mountainair Peter Nieto. As a champion for progressive policy and legislation in the state of New Mexico, Reyes has been at the forefront of the state’s efforts to provide COVID-19 relief, support educators, curb gun violence, build New Mexico’s economy, and protect our air, land, and water. When the pandemic hit, Governor Lujan Grisham tapped Reyes to help lead efforts aiding local governments with community response to ensure tribes and pueblos had access to the food, shelter, and resources they needed as an architect behind two special legislative sessions.
